Chamber of Industry returned from the “BIG 5 SHOW” International Fair of Construction materials and Building Technologies with success and the firms with business connections
Firms participating in the International Fair of Construction Materials and Building Technologies, the “BIG 5 SHOW”, held in Dubai, under the umbrella of the North Cyprus Chamber of Industry” have made business connections.
Held between 25 and 29 November 2007 in Dubai, which is considered the capital of the United Arab Emirates, our country participated in the fair with 5 firms where 2700 participants from 60 countries including North Cyprus have participated.
Being the trade centre of the Middle East, Dubai is the most important port of the floating trade with its 400 miles long coast.
With technical support of the KOBİ Centre that is under the USAID’s EDGE (Economic Development and Growth for Enterprises) project and with contributions of Turkish Embassy to Nicosia and Ministry of Economy and Tourism, the Chamber of Industry participated in the fair with 5 firms. Denizalp Aliminyum (Aluminium) , Levent- Stonite, Darem Trading Ltd, Kale Boya (Paint), Gürdağ Çakıl İşletmeleri (Grvel Enterprises) took stands at the 72 square meters of umbrella stand. Despite participating in the fair for the firs time, firms worked intensively and made business connections.
Wood patterned doors that Denizalp Alüminyum manufactured; marbles manufactured by Levent Stonite firm; Kale Boya’s suture plaster material and construction chemicals, brushes and brooms Darem Trade has exhibited and pumice block and parquet varieties of the Gürdağ Çakıl İşletmeleri dragged attraction of the many visiting businessmen. Meanwhile, businesspeople from many countries heard about North Cyprus for the first time.
Turkey’s Minister of State Kürşat Tüzmen also visited the North Cyprus stand, formed under the umbrella of the Chamber of Industry and expressed his happiness from seeing North Cyprus at the fair.
Again, President of Coordination and Development of Exportation Central Exercise of Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade of Prime Ministry of Republic of Turkey Asuman Soylu congratulated the chamber for successfully coordinated fair works and said that they will give all their support.
Meanwhile, TRNC’s Representative for Abu Dhabi Aytuğ Fazıl Plümer gave his support to the fair team by not leaving them alone from the start till the end.
Salih Tunar participated in the 11th International Business Forum
President of the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry, Salih Tunar, participated in the 11th International Business Forum held at Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
Before participating in the Business Forum, president of the Chamber Salih Tunar visited the BIG 5 SHOW fair and met with participating firms. Congratulating them for their attempts, Salih Tunar discussed participation in future fairs through attempts of the Chamber of Industry and market strategies with participating firms.
Then President Tunar went from Dubai to Abu Dhabi and participated in the 11th International Business Forum on Novemner 26, organised by Dubai Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Abu Dhabi Chamber of Industry and Commerce and held under the auspices of Sheik of United Arab Emirates Sheik Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Arab world showed great interest in the business forum this year, which’s 10th was held in Istanbul last year with participation of Turkish prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Alongside Minister of State Kürşat Tüzmen from Turkey, Egypt’s Minister of Trade and Industry Rachid Mohammed Rachid, Algeria’s Minister of State Jana Sultani, Syria’s Minister of State Tayseer Al Redawin representatives of important private and public sector firms participated in the forum. Participating in the forum wit a “special quest” status, President of the Chamber of Industry Salih Tunar had the chance to meet with representatives of other Arab countries foremost Turkish Minister of State Kürşat Tüzmen and Turkey’s Ambassador to Abu Dhabi, and explained them that north Cyprus was trying to increase its trade and economic cooperation with these countries and that participation in fairs in Dubai was within the framework of this desire and all these aimed to develop cooperation between chambers.
During the Business Forum, which took place between 28 and 29 November, issues as industrial zones, desalination of sea water, investment opportunities in Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Stock Market, investment opportunities in Turkey, Islamic banking were discussed. Alongside Salih Tunar, TRNC’s Representative to Abu Dhabi Aytuğ Plümer also participated in the Business Forum.
In addition to Dubai BIG 5 Construction Materials’ Fair, where it participated with the technical support and cooperation of USAİD funded KOBİ Center and within the framework of expanding the North Cyprus productive sector to foreign countries, the Chamber of Industry continues its works regarding participation in Gulfood 2008, which will be held again in Dubai in February and to Fruitlogistica, the fresh fruit and vegetable organised in Berlin.
