President of the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry Salih Tunar stressed that food and water laws were important for the reliability of the producer and for confidence of the consumer.
President Salih Tunar visited Minister of Health Eşref Vaiz with Secretary general of the Chamber and Ahmet Gürtuna and Gökhan Gazioğlu, representing the water sector on October 17.
Undersecretary to the Ministry of Health Asaf Şenol and Ministry’s Director İsmet Salihoğlu also attended the meeting.
Minister of Health Eşref Vaiz said that they were fastidiously working to establish food safety, adding that measures for elevating the standards of agriculture and the sectors attached to agriculture and for ensuring inspection of the products were encouraged.
Mr. Vaiz also stressed his ministry’s determination for following the international development within the field of food and implementing appropriate solutions.
Stating that the food and water regulations were being reconsidered and by completing the legal works as soon as possible, the Food law, which  will be  adjusted to EU standards was to be sent to the Assembly, Mr. Vaiz said that the law will bring standard to animal based consuming products alongside all imported and local productions.
Stating that a chain of standards was to be established from production to consuming, "We are fulfilling our responsibilities regarding assurance of safety of food both locally produced and imported,” said Minister Vaiz.
