Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry has become a Observer Member through a decision taken at the 24th General Congress of the Islamic Chambers of Commerce and Industry, held in Jeddah, the capital of the Saudi Arabia between 24 and 26 April 2008.
Observer Membership issue of the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry, which was at the 14th item of the agenda during the meeting of the general congress was supported by the members. Especially, speech of the President of the Islamic Chambers of
Commerce and Industry Sheikh Saleh praising the North Cyprus has created great effect on members. Sheikh Saleh mentioned of his pleasure from his visit to North Cyprus and explained about the ban Greece has put on his plane because of this visit.
President of the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry and Chamber’s Vice President Musa Sönmezer could not attend the meeting due to a last minute visa problem. However, Salih Çeliker, Executive Board member of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce has participated in the meeting and represented both chambers with success.
Addressing the congress, Salih Çeliker said in brief that they were honoured to host Sheikh Saleh in the TRNC last year and that they wished to improve their relations with Islamic countries on economic, commercial, social, tourism and educational fields.
20 member countries have attended the 24th general congress of Islamic Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
