The European Commission approved new amendments to the directive regulating the procedures of moving goods across the Green Line. The amendments have been adopted in order to stimulate the Turkish Cypriot economy. The legislation stipulates general lifting of duties on agricultural products originating in the northern part of Cyprus when being traded across the Green Line. Last year, Turkish Cypriot sales across the Green Line reached 4.08 million Euro, which constitutes 10 percent of total Turkish Cypriot exports.
