The Minister for Economy and Tourism made his first visit to the chamber

Stating that they were beside the industrialists, producers and tradesmen, and that they were ready to provide all kinds of support, said, “We should succeed to open our country which undergoes isolations to the foreign countries”

Minister of Economy and Tourism Enver Öztürk has said that the opening of the TRNC, which undergoes the isolations to foreign countries, should be succeeded. Visiting the Cyprus Chamber of Industry for the first time on Match 28, Enver Öztürk, met with the members of the Board of Directors of Chamber. Undersecretary for the Ministry for Economy and Tourism Yusuf Gülçür and other authorities accompanied Öztürk.

Speaking during the meeting Minister of Economy and Tourism said that they were paying a return visit to the Chamber of Industry and that with his visit, he wished to make up for the distance raised from misunderstandings between the Ministry and the Chamber.

Stating that during Chamber's visit to him it was decided to create a wide cooperation between the Ministry and the Chamber and to form a common committee for this purpose, added that the committee was formed and fulfilled its first meeting.

Öztürk: “Misunderstandings caused distance”

However adding that during the passed time a distance occurred between the Ministry and the Chamber which he believed sourcing from misunderstandings, said that this was not a preferable situation for them and that close cooperation with the chambers of Industry and Commerce was compulsory regarding the economical aspect of his ministry.

Explaining that due to intensive working programme at the ministry meetings determined with the Chamber of Industry failed to be executed at determined days and times, added that for a meeting 15 days ago, the delegation of the Chamber of Industry were made to wait without being informed, due to a mistake, however that later he apologised to the President of the Chamber of Industry on phone.

“As the result of unfortunate coincidences an impression was created as if the Ministry had a negative attitude against the Chamber of Industry” sad Öztürk and added that neither the Ministry not the Chamber had the rights to keep distance from each other, and that parts could have different thoughts and opinions but that was a different issue.

Tunar: “There are many problems awaiting”

As for the President of the Chamber of Industry Salih Tunar, he said that he was happy to see Öztürk at the Chamber.

Stating that the productive sector had an important place within the economy due to added value and employment they have created, Tunar said that the productive sector had many problems waiting for a solution.

Stating that the fields of these problems were bind to the Ministries of Economy and Finance, Mr. Tunar added that for that reason getting in contact with the ministries was the base.

Mr. Tunar said that there could not be resentment between the government and NGOs and that they can only have different point of views and challenges and added that problems could be solved if cooperation is set with the state.

Mr. Tunar has said that he believed that problems with foremost the Law for the Industrial Zones concerning the prevention of importation which is out of standards, and giving a freight support on exportation would be solved with the Ministry of Economy.

Salih Tunar said that he believed that from now on they will have more fruitful works with the ministry.
