Parliament Member Brendon O’Connor,
Australia High Commissioner Hunt and
representatives of the Chamber of
Industry got together at lunch.
Musa Sönmezler, the President of the
Chamber of Industry, Mustafa Gündüz,
the General Secretary, Ali Çıralı,
Auditor, members; Derviş Tarımer,
Alptekin Alpal and Özgün Kutalmış
joined lunch.
Authorities of the Chamber gave
information to Senators about North
Cyprus. It was stressed that for a
permanent peace in Cyprus there should
be a development in the economy of North
and isolations should be released.
It was defended that Turkish are not the
minority in Cyprus and Australia may not
recognize TRNC, but they can accept the
passport as a travel document.
Chamber Authorities said there are a lot
of Turkish Cypriots in Australia who had
to immigrate in 1963.
It was the first time that Senators have
listened Turkish Cypriots and the
meeting was very beneficial for them.
